vaio xl201 Wlan antenna

I bought an X201 but I was unable to connect the Wlan antenna to its jack in the back of the computer. I contacted Sony support and they said the jack might be defective. So I returned the product for exchange. Got the new one and ..... IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!
Am I doing something wrong or am I just soooooooooo unlucky????
Does anyone as any suggestion or has encounter the same difficulties attaching the Wlan antenna???????
Please help

Hi Nick and welcome to Club Vaio.

I think you will find the solution is simply that it is a LEFT HAND THREAD.

Vaio Support ???????????*!*%!.

Thanks, Naturally I tried that (i.e. turn counterclockwise). But it doesn't work! It seems that the jack coming out of the computer is left hand thread while the connector on the Wlan wire is right hand!
Can it be possible???
Apparently, Sony support is aware of this problem and there sending someone to fix it.
Thanx anyway for the suggestion

What goes around comes around.

I too had the problem, solved it by chance (LH thread - that was all) but "naturally" ? - not many engineers I know would have expected a LH thread in this application.

My point being, it would be very helpful in these forums

a) to have a Media Centre area

b) to have a way to index/access these same problems more easily than people can at present - insofar as - eg XL201 antenna/display - problems keep coming up and people don't seem to find their problems already discussed - and often solved - weeks/months earlier.

I'm looking forward to the activity on this forum when the Vista Express disks begin to ship!

Media Centre section hey? Now there's a good idea, but I remember I had this idea for a networking section, was totally brushed aside.

Its good to know that I am not alone. I bought myself the XL 202 for Christmas and while assembling it, had the same problem with the WLAN Cable threat on the Computer. After the holidays I took the Antenna back to the shop and got a HAMA WiFi antenna to overcome the period while the Sony Antenna is being exchanged. The HAMA Antenna fits onto the socket/threat without any effort or problem and works fine. Its now 1 April, and I am still waiting for a replacement WiFi Antenna to arrive from Sony.

 Just an update guys on this thread! Finally the Sony Service people came to my home with the repair parts, replaced the defective PCI card which had left-threads connector vs. a RH-thread!
And everithing works fine except .......... NOW WHEN WINDOWS DOWNLOADS UPDATES IT SCREWS THE WHOLE COMPUTER SET-UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
but that's another thred (i've already seen the solution here http://club.vaio.sony.co.uk/clubvaio/GB/en/forum/viewthread?thread=36767

ciao!!!!
