well answers please? and why?
For me no because i do not trust their quality checks, i think they try and rush out the latest fashion craze and then get on with designing the next.
Their driver downloads/documentation are dismal to say the least
True - that's another thing the Vaio had over the Compaq - built in 802.11b.
802.11g would be nice, though
Bluetooth has it's uses - at least, it does for me. It means I can sync the iPaq (3970, built in BT) and P800 (also built in BT) without needing any additional hardware (on the Vaio I need a USB dongle, of course)..
If it was WiFI only, the iPaq would require a CF jacket and CF 802.11b card, and the P800 would be stuck with cable only..
Still, I do still like my Vaio.. and at least everyone says "Oooh that's a slinky laptop".. Lol
Both would be OK.
Update with my laptop situation:
Motherboard has been replaced...laptop now boots hurray......but SMART failure..need new harddisk!!!!! What else could go wrong with it??? I just hope i get it back soon!! Have to say tho that there service people haven't put me on hold that long lol. All i can say is that i really don't trust their hardware anymore....i think i am one of the lucky ones, with the laptop breaking down while in warrantee......i just hope that it lasts a few more years afterwards...
I can't believe they didn't notice a SMART failure when they installed a new motherboard for you. Normally they check if it works before sending it back to you.
What a waste of time they are some days.
Should update my post...what i mean is that it was at the service centre...motherboard replace and they saw it had a hard disk failure as well...so now replacing hard disk also....it didn't come back to me.
It is taking a long time though..... i just hope i don't need to go through this again for a LLLOOONNNGGGG while!
Ah well, thats good that it didn't have to go there and back, but I can see why you are not too happy, you probably have work to do like the rest of us.

Hehe, yea.
Lucky I'm not working, I don't think my boss would like me writing messages all day on here do you?
Ah well, hopefuly soon I'll be getting some work ...
I'm a firm beliver in buying Sony, It has a good reputation in the electronics industry, but after just buying a new Sony Vaio PCG-GRT786M. I find that my DVD-RW won't readsome discs supplied with PC mags. Also it won't auto run any disc I put in the drive.? I also purchased a USB Bluetooth adapter installed its software and find that it finds the phone but will go no further. Can't access the web via this. I then went out and bought a cable for my Nokia phone 6610 installed the softaware to COM 4, but still can't access it as my dial up can't find the modem in the listing for modems. When I try to reconfigure I get a list of Com ports except for COM 4? Looking over this Vaio web site also leaves a lot to be desired. Tech help I find really uninformative as my modle of computer is not even listed so what to do......
The GRT786M IS listed on Vaio-link.
