well answers please? and why?
For me no because i do not trust their quality checks, i think they try and rush out the latest fashion craze and then get on with designing the next.
Their driver downloads/documentation are dismal to say the least
Know definitely not
disability means that I am rely upon voice recognition software this unfortunately does not work on my Sony vaio Fx 805 as it has a bad interference loop problem which gives out a very distorted sound on playback.
Sony's response has been disgusting passing the buck by saying that as they don't make the external sound pod that I use (internal Sony card would give out poor results) I can basically swinging the wind.
Having paid £1400 for the notebook I'm absolutely outraged and spend large degree of my time now warning of other people about Sony laptops.
They made a loss last year and if they continue to treat customers like they have me their future is far from guaranteed.
If you pay for quality you expect to see that translated in performance.

No offence to Sean, but Sony's approach is little different to other companys (these days).
Sony are not required to make their equipment specifically for any minority, whether that be disabled, left handed, blonde, whatever. Their interest is selling thousands of computers, not one or two.
The best approach for a customer is to get recommendations from their peers, those people who may have more similar requirements. (e.g. A sony might not be a good idea if you want Bluetooth, and a Windows PC is not so good if you do desktop publishing).
And a salesman is the last person you should ever rely on for unbiased advice !!

Stupid thing went and duplicated, sorry
Most likely, no I would not. This is purely down to the experience(s) Ive had. My PCGA-FX705 crashes on random occassions after installing windows updates. Sometimes when I close the lid and realise I need to save something onto disk, I go back to it, when I open out the screen i get nothing but fuzzy lines across it. In the end I have to restart to get my screen back to normal.
My dads packard bell laptop has been trouble free since the day he bought it and it was £300 cheaper than my vaio and its not even as powerful. All windows updates installed correctly and without objection on his machine. Yet here I am with a £1500 machine, which is supposed to be top of the line cos its "SONY", that cant even handle simple windows updates. Technical help line is a bit.... sorry a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig joke. Either the person speaks too fast and you dont know that he/she said, or its a foreign person who doesnt understand you and vice versa. Countless times Ive wanted to scream at the person but I dont know how I manage to keep my composure.
Well the results are interesting so far, a majority of people here would buy another, but there's not a small minority not willing to buy Sony again.... keep voting and lets get a clearer picture....
Im afraid my vote currently is going to be a no.. In fact if I ever get my machine back I may end up giving it back.
Its a shame really.. I like Sony and I bought this one in the assumption Im paying more for that bit more quality of build and service.
Hmm well I can't really say I don't like the GRX series, as it seems to be one of Sony's best. It seems to be the one with less issues around here.
I find it sad when people don't get the right support after paying over 2 grand for a notebook.
