HELP PLEASE
Vaio update installed WinDVD BD 8.8.0.154 and it wouldn't play Blu Rays anymore (DVDs would play).
Sony support suggested that I uninstall the software and use Vaio recovery to install the original software but there was an error 505:41.
Reinstalling everything (including the OS) from scratch is not an option. Now I'm left with no DVD/BD software.
I'd like to get the previous version of the WinDVD software back (8.0-B20.185) can anyone help ???
Thanks,
Gary
PS System is running Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit

A year since I left my last message here and I still have the problem, Denatus, my BD player doesn´t work.
Still no joy!
I've just come to upgrade a program and dvd player not working at all now..never mind just Blu-Ray.
Any ideas anyone?
Sony have you any ideas or are you just abandoning us?
Hello. I am currently having the same issues. It seems that the only way to fix this is to do full factory reset but I dont have the disk to do this. Does anyone know how else this can be done?
Tom_Rowe_86, a full factory reset won´t solve the problem. I did it and my Blu ray player still doesn´t work. It will only give u the trouble to make a back up copy of all your files and install everything again.
When u try the bd disc, if u r lucky the player scognises it, it will say u need to install the newest version, and then u´ll have the same problem again.
I´m still waiting for someone to help me.
Cheers mate. Let me know if you hear anything. Its driving me mad. I was going to send the laptop back, but I doubt they would be able to fix it so there isnt much point. At least I'm not the only one.. thought I was just being dumb or something.
Well blow me down with a feather. I was just reading through some forums and spmeone said to wipe the blu-ray lens. So I did. And it worked.
