NW-ZX100HN Locks & Requires Reset After Connecting to Music Centre

Since updating Music Centre to version 2.2.0 I've found that my ZX100HN seizes up shortly after connecting to Music Centre. I can transfer new music to device ok but just after that everything stops (including charging) and I have to disconnect and reset the device. If I then just reconnect the device to my PC via USB (after closing Music Centre) charging resumes ok without further problem.

I've also got a NWZ- A15 which doesn't experience this problem.

Yes - device software up to date. Problem has only appeared since I updated to latest version of Music Centre.  My workaround (still untried) will be to close Music Centre as soon as I have transferred any new music to device and see how that goes.

I wonder if the same thing happens if you connect the Walkman to another computer? It will also be interesting to know if using a computer with/without Music Centre makes a difference.

Thanks for replying. I can connect and charge the Walkman without any problem if I don't have Music Centre open - it's only if I connect when Music Centre is running that the device locks. It doesn't lock immediately and so far, I have managed to transfer new music successfully before the lock occurs. This happens a few minutes after transfer completes - everything stops on the "Do Not Disconnect" screen. After a short while I do disconnect and then reset the device to get things moving again.

I don't think I've ever heard of this kind of issue but clearly, the appropriate thing to do is to isolate the source (Is it Music Centre or the Walkman itself).

 

The most straight forward way to test with a different PC w/Music Centre installed.

 

Also, try updating/reinstalling Music Centre on your computer.

Hi Win_88,

Many thanks for replying. I have just added a couple of new albums from Music Centre to my Walkman and then immediately closed down Music Centre and left  the device to charge. All is working fine and the device continues to charge without problem. I suspect that the locking issue is happening when Music Centre tries to disconnect the device after the transfer is completed  - the device screen does not switch from "Do Not Disconnect" to "Connected USB: Storage in use:". This problem has only arisen since I recently upgraded to Music Centre Version 2.2 but has not affected my NWZ A15 which continues to work as before. Maybe some sort of software issue between the ZX100Hn & Music Centre?

I'll try your suggestion of reinstalling Music Centre to see if this helps when I next add new music.
