Sony WH-1000XM3 Google Assistant not taking commands

Hello,

I recently got the Sony wh1000-xm3. I added Google Assistant support which it has.

if I click once it gives me the time and relevant notifications However when I long press it does not recieve Google commands. It’s as if the microphones are not on for this. If I use the google Assistant app though it takes in commands fine and with the microphones.

I have tried resetting and uninstalling the google assistant app. I also tried factory resetting. I also tried pairing and unpairing both from my phone AND google assistant.  I have an iOS phone, an iPhone X.

any thoughts/suggestions?

Same issue here.  Bought mine 2 days ago and after trying everything, I can't make google assistant take my commands.  I hope this is fixed before my 45-day return period is over, otherwise, I will be returning these.

I picked these pair up after trying the Bose QC35ii, which worked well with google assistant by the way, but the latency while watching TV and the range were horrendous, as they don't have aptX hardware/codec, so I returned them.  I currently own the Beats Studio 3 as well.  The problem with the Beats is, after a few hours of use, I can't stand them.  With the Bose, you almost forget you have them.  The Sony headphones are much more comfortable than the Beats.

If Sony doesn't fix this, I think I'll wait for the Bose QC45 or QC35iii, whatever they call the next generation and hopefully they fix the latency issue by adding aptX / aptX LL.

I have exact same setup (WH-1000XM3 and iPhone X). I used to not have this issue. Then I've updated Google Assistant app in iOS. I'm having this issue ever since. Unfortunately, I don't know the app version that didn't give me this issue. I even tried Google Assistant with my iPad - same issue.

This issue was fixed with the latest google assistant update.  But I guess there are still issues with the headphone's mic, as it is sometimes difficult for google assistant to understand commands.

I really don't want Assistant. Can I get updates without it?

Hello @dofgod,

just as with your phone - it is an option, yet you don't need to use it.
