Sony Xperia Tablet powers itself off.. advice please!

Hi!

Bought a 32gb Xperia Tablet S last Monday and am happy with it.   I have this issue at the moment and would appreciate any advice.

If I do not use the tablet for a time, it goes into a 'standby mode' and I can touch the power switch to wake it up.  I then slide the unlock icon to make all active again.

However, after a period of non-use, my tablet switches off completely and I have to reboot and can see the SONY screen and then XPERIA screen, before it boots and is ready to use.

Occasionally this reboot happens within 5 minutes of being in sleep mode.:smileycry:

In Settings -> Display,  I have set the Power save mode as checked,  and Sleep is after 2 minutes.  Also in Settings, Developers options, stay awake is checked but I know this relates to when the tablet is being charged

Please can you advise me if there is any settings that I need to change or if I have been unlucky and have a faulty tablet and will need to return it to the Sony Store!

I was told that the tablet has an 'Eco Mode'  but that does not make sense because powering off means no mail check etc etc!

Hi fahyconor,

Some people over at XDA Developers have this problem when the sd card is in and also when it is out.

You can see a prt of a logfile that I added a few posts back,  It seems that is where the prpblem lies.

Have you reported this to Sony's telephone support line and received a case number?

If you are in the UK, you can see a support number, again a few posts back.  I hope you also register your problems with them.

No further news to offer other than 'the technical support team are working to find a resoloution..'

As soon as I recieve any further feedback from Sony support I'll let you know..

However anyone enountering this problem it may be worth registering your fault with Sony support so that they are aware of how many units are affected..:smileywink:

Hi Thalamus!

No news from me either even though I was promised call backs from SOny Support.

The Wi-Fi menu on the Xperia Tablet S  is this...

It's a pity that the coding and menu could be the same as is on the Xperia T mobile phone.

Hope I get some kind of communication soon ....

This has now become a major issue for me also, I bought a Sony Experia S Tablet a few weeks ago just before Sony pulled it in the UK due to the splash-proofing issue. It just reboots a lot of the time instead of coming out of sleep. This has nothing to do with SD cards, I dont use one, nothing to do with wifi, it does it with wifi off as well as on and I am on the latest version of software.

This is just another example of where Sony have failed to match up to other leading technology, I am really upset after spending the money on this now and Sony's silence on this is deafening, it is ridiculous. Add this to the other issues I am having and I wish I had gone for Apple (never thought I would hear myself say that!)

Hi TheSlickYin,

Have you reported it to Sony elsewhere?

I called this Sony number 8702402408 and when  promoted for a 7 digit case number I typed 1234567#

Now I have a case number, and hope to get some communication about it, but sadly nowt useful.

I also have 2 email addresses for Sony and if you want them, I can pm them to you,

I called the Sony Shop today, and they said even if they were told by 'head office' to replace my tablet, they cannot so as there are none in stock.

Hi,

There was a software update todat to 4.0.3 (release 6).

Before I was switching off my wi-fi when not in use and would not have any powering off issues. After the update I have now switched on the wi-fi all the time and so far so good after 4 hours.

Hi,

So far, about one day on since the update, I have had my first shutdown.

Still not convinced it has been fixed.

Hi Steve,

I had 3 reboots last night.  I haven't used my Xperia Tablet today and will do so this evening.
