Xperia Z1 MP3

hello

i have my sony Z1 which i upgraded from a Z. i have bought a 64gb sd card for it. i have connected it upto my PC and transfered MP3s direct to the sd card (followed the same process as my Z but that only had a 32gb sd)

i use the walkman feature to play my music and i have noticed that a large number of MP3s wont play, the phone gives no reason just a box appears saying 'cannot play'. i selected more than a handful of the MP3s it wont play and installed them on my Z and they played fine.

any1 have any clues?

i have also noticed that alot of MP3s are missing on my phone but they are there once i connect to PC

im confused :-s

That is odd as this will generally only happen if the files are not in a compatible format but then they wouldn’t play on the other device unless you were using a third party application to play them. To rule out a few possibilities please delete the contact in question from the phone and then transfer it back using MediaGo.

thanks Sam.

i have a feeling its the SD card as i followed your advise and moved my MP3's over 1 at a time and checked that they played. the first 6/7 i moved over worked ok but after about 10/11 they all started playing up (skipping or displaying the 'cannot play'  even the MP3's that i checked in the first lot.

what spec of SD card does the Z1 require? only info i can find is.......

  • Expansion slot: microSD™ card, up to 64 GB (SDXC supported)

As you say, that sounds like a problem with the SD card.

Any microSD should work. I recommend that you first try formatting it from the phone (Settings -> Storage -> Erase SD card) but please note that it will delete all files on it.

If that doesn't help i would try another SD card to see if it's a problem with the card or phone.

i have given up on the 64gb and im just loading up a 32gb to try.

i suspect it is the sd card which is..

Kingston microSDHC 64gb class4

my 32gb is a...

Samsung microSDHC 32gb class10

i have been reading up and the 64gb should be a SDXC as SDHC only goes to 32gb, Ebay has robbed me! i did think it was the class rating that caused it but again reading up, i dout that now.

i will update the outcome.

p.s.

when is the Z1 mini coming out 🙂

Hello,
I cannot copy my music to SD card Slightly_frowning_Face
The problem is that, when I onnect the Z1 to my PC I can access SD card, navigate through the folders really fast, open contetn etc, but when I try to copy some files to it, it is stucked, or is showing progress bar which is not copying anything at all even if it is 1 mp3 😕

The worse is that as only I am trying to copy something to it I can no longer access it, I mean it is showing green progress bar of Windows 7 that tries to load the content really slow but never loads. The worse is after that I cannot see any drives in "My Computer" as the same green progress bar appears in never ending load Slightly_frowning_Face And then "Unable to copy" message appears stating that "the device stopped to respond or was disconnected". What The HECK??!!

It happens until I disconnect my Z1 from computer, after that it works...
Again, as I reconnect Z1 I can again access SD card, view it and play the content, see pictures etc...
It is really weird. I tried also copy the files through PC Companion (there was an update) but it behaves the same, with the same problem.

I also saw in settings of Memory on Z1 in sections "disconnect SD card" and "format SD Card" that - "Function MTP is enabled". Anyone know what it means? It cannot be changed.

I've got class10, 16GB Shamesung SD card which is shock and electromagnetic discharge resistant etc. It shoudl be good but is not.

Sometimes in camera mode, when I switch "save" option to SD card, "memory error" appears stating: "Memory is secured from the write. Unable to edit the files" = and I cannot to take a pictures unless I restart the phone Slightly_frowning_Face Slightly_frowning_Face Slightly_frowning_Face

HELP!:smileycry:

I will try to format SD card, but backup the content first.
Strange, it is possible to copy the content without any issues very fast 😕
Additionally,LOST.dir directory is empty all the time.

Copying back the content, seems Z1 has some problems with SD Cards Slightly_frowning_Face
