Despite trying another Fright Night disk, both Blockbuster rental disks refuse to show anything.
It showed couple of screens that looked like the menu background, and then it looked like the player had switched itself off. Sio I gave it ten minutes to no avail.
I had a look at the disk, but it was very clean with no scratches, so we took it back and got another copy. Exactly the same thing !
The 480 is updated to the latest firmware, and just to be sure, I attempted to reload the firm again to be told "already loaded"
The assistant said nobody else had any trouble with "Fright Night", so it must be the player. However, it played a "Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark" bluray perfectly, along with my usual test BD "Avatar - Collector's Edition "
Solved! Go to Solution.
LOL, nah probably not!, dont worry about it, with any luck S ony will have finished their tea break and come back with the solution!!
I resorted to hiring the DVD version 🙂
Hi there my player does this as well it's a sony S185 it plays the touchstones logo for about 2 seconds then re-starts the player only with this fright night disc i have updated firmware twice since sat 4th feb (mine ended 28 then ending 29on sat spoke to someone yesterday at sony and went to firmware ending 33 last night still not working) I tried this disc on my neighbours player and it played fine on 2 x different players one being samsung (maybe we should buy one of them) blockbusters are blaming the disc and have sent one back to manufacturers to do tests on. They said they would let me know results on friday
I'd be interested in what they say about it too
Thanks 🙂

Not heard any news as yet, as soon as I do I'll update you asap..:smileyhappy:
I'm having problems on my 570 with the same disc.
Either I get the same as you - menu, then appears to switch itself off and back on.
Or - the previews start to play - the video runs ok for a couple of seconds, then freezes (whilst the sound continues ok) then appears to fast forward to 'catch up' with the sound. Then it plays ok again for a few seconds, then freezes again, then fast forwards etc etc.
The film can then be played - with the same play, freeze, fast forward which lasts for the whole film apparently.
I will take it back to Blockbuster tomorrow and won't get another copy.
10 Days on and still nothing from the Sony coffers on this, disgraceful!!
