Android TV - Bugs and Issues

Hello all

 

The aim of this thread is to collate all the issues that are currently outstanding and to provide feedback to everyone in this thread. This thread will be a work in progress and updates on various reported issues will be posted back here on the pages below.

 

Only issues that can be confirmed by multiple people will be posted here.

 

NOTE: For anyone experiencing other issues not mentioned here - can you please ensure that you factory reset the TV.   Instructions are located: HERE

 

Update: Due to some TVs that will be on Marshmallow and others that will be on Nougat, this list will be separated into two (ATV1 and ATV2 - see below for model numbers for the difference).  If the fault occurs on both versions of Android, it will be listed under both lists.

Info Banner - Not changing description from Now to Next

 

Problem:

When pressing the [i+] button on the remote control, the descripton of whats currently on is displayed.  Upon pressing the arrow across to display the NEXT program, the description does not change.  Thus far, issue is reported in Greece and Croatia.  Issue seems to be from Satellite channels - but not all are affected.

TV Randomly Rebooting

 

Problem:

Some people have noticed that their TV seems to randomly reboot whilst in use and/or reboot whilst in standby (i.e. overnight.  This seems to be happening even more since the Marshmallow update (versions 3.865 and 6.1004).

Netflix Buffering to 25% then freezing

 

Problem:

Some people are reporting that Netflix is failing to load since updating the TV's firmware to Marshmallow.  The Netflix version 4.0.2 and 4.0.4 is stopping at 25% when loading everything.  Upon removing the update and return to the original 3.31 version, it works without problems.

WiFi will not connect on hidden SSID using 5Ghz band

 

Problem:

Upon updating to Marshmallow people cannot connect to with WiFi when using a hidden SSID on the 5Ghz frequency.  However it does connect using the 2.4Ghz band.  This was a previous bug a long time ago HERE, which also got fixed with a firmware update

[RESOLVED] Customise TV Key greyed out when YouView is enabled

 

Problem:

With YouView Disabled the 'TV' button on remote control can be programmed to select other sources (Home > Settings > External Inputs > Customise TV Key.  However if YouView Enabled = The 'Customise TV Key' is greyed out.

 

A thread on the YouView forums is HERE.  However YouView have stated that this is more than likely a Sony TV issue and not them.

All4 App - TV show restarts from beginning at end of first advert break

 

Problem:

Upon reaching the first advert break when playing back a TV show within the All4 app, the TV show will restart from the beginning.

01-08-2017 - All4 is in the process of updating its app on the YouView platform.  It is believed that this issue will be resolved then.  ETA of the new version of the All4 app is unknown at this stage.

WiFi - Unable to connect when ethernet cable is connected

 

 

Problem:
When and Ethernet cable is connected to an Android based TV, you cannot re-configure the TVs network settings to connect to WiFi instead.  Upon physically disconnecting the ethernet cable, then WiFi connects.  This was not an issue under Lollipop (Android 5.1).

 

Note: This does not effect things like casting or screen-mirroring.

Amazon App - Un-pausing when daydream is activated Issue

 

Problem:

This problem only occurs when the 'Daydream' screensaver has been activated/enabled in the TV settings - un-pausing in the Amazon app causes the TV to return back to the Android home screen - not resuming the playback of content.

Workarounds:

  1. Set 'Daydream' to the maximum idle time of 1hr - Home > Settings > Daydream > When to daydream > 1hr   (you should not be pausing for more than 1 hour anyway)
  2. Disable 'Daydream' completely - see instructions (work-around) : HERE

Amazon App - Failing to correctly play first time

 

Problem:

When launching the Amazon App, upon play video content for the first time it skips foward by a large amount and fails to run properly. After stopping playback and trying again it works fine. This is consistent with SD, HD, UHD content. All videos continue to run ok until exiting the app and the cycle repeats.

Info Banner - Displays randomly when using HDMI inputs

 

Problem:

When using a HDMI connected device (i.e. PS4 or Bluray Player), the Information banner seems to randomly display itself
